Safety guide
Is Plastic Surgery in Medellín Safe?
It’s the question almost every patient asks before booking, and it deserves a real answer. Medellín today is a mature medical destination, and for any surgery abroad, safety comes down to three things you can check.
What determines safety
Your surgeon
The single most important safety factor. Check registration and certification, experience with your procedure and how complications are handled. This is what our vetting standard covers.
How we verify surgeons →Your facility
Surgery should happen in an accredited clinic or hospital with intensive-care backup, modern anesthesia equipment and round-the-clock nursing, never in an unaccredited private suite.
Our facility standard →Your support on the ground
Safe transport, a place to recover with nursing care, someone who speaks your language, and a clear plan if something goes wrong.
Our Recovery House →

Questions worth asking any provider
- Is the surgeon registered and certified, and can I verify it myself?
- How often do they perform my procedure?
- Is the facility accredited, with backup if something goes wrong?
- Who will be with me, and how do I reach them at any hour?
- What happens if I have a concern after I return home?
We encourage you to ask us all of these. We would rather you arrive prepared, supported and knowing exactly what to expect.
